I'm not a great Shankar fan coz I think he doesn't do justice to Rahman's music - I believe that Shankar gets the commercial best out of Rahman (Boys, Gentleman, Kadhalan, Jeans, Sivaji) just as Mani Ratnam gets the artistic and classic best out of Rahman... But In Sivaji, he has done a fair amount of justice to Rahmans songs... And ARR's background score is amazing!
