Yet another rave-worthy concert by Sanjay! After having gone completely crazy over Sanjay’s rendition of Ananda natana prakasham, it was a dream come true for me to listen to him sing it in a concert! The swarams at tha jam thari pa ma ga were just too good! The fast-paced Maarubalka, replete with excellent neraval & swarams was made all the more enjoyable by Neyveli Venkatesh’s Mridangam & Gopalakrishnan’s Khanjira apart from of course, Varadarajan’s violin! The Kalyani that followed! Wow!! Everyone out there seemed to absolutely enjoy the Kalyani alapana, swarams and the song itself, the lyrics of which I just loved – a line went like srIkAntanum saraswatIkAntanum paNiya dEhAntattuL naDikkum Ananda tANDavattai. Varadarajan was brilliant for this one! The Kaayarohanesham and unnaDiye gati were great too.

Just as he started the Keeravani alapana, I had to leave since I had to go for watching Jodha Akbar. I left half-way through a Sanjay’s concert after a very long time. I came to know only today that he had sung Vazhi maraitthirukudhe as well later in that concert! I missed it! 🙁 But I am happy that atleast I didn’t miss Ananda natana prakasham! 🙂

I’d love to attend such a concert…but how do you come to know about them? I usually come to know when they are over. 🙁 And how was Jodha Akbar?

    Niveditha,
Irrespective of the no. of concerts we go to, it always happens that we will be missing exactly those where our favourites are sung

    Sathej,
I saw it. I came to know from there only that he had sung vazhi maraitthirukudhe later

    Amit,
The list of concerts are given on the 4th page of ‘The Hindu’ everyday. Also check out http://ramsabode.wordpress.com/concerts-in-chennai/

    Shruthi,
I was going for so many Sanjay’s concerts at that time that I sometimes had to leave those in between so that I got the time for other things too 😉
