Yet another amazing concert! I absolutely loved the Bhahudhari alapana and swarams. Couldn’t have enough of PDNPM! πŸ˜‰ And then the best part of the concert – Bhairavi! The out of the world alapana, the rendition of yaaro ivar yaaro, the neraval & swarams – an enchanting Bhairavi it was! Though all the tukkadas were excellent, the Sindhu Bhairavi was extra special. Even though it was 11 pm by the time the concert ended, I really wished the concert could go on for some more time. πŸ˜‰

For at least the next one month, with Sanjay touring the US, there is not going to be a Sanjay’s concert here. πŸ™

Are these concerts free to attend?

    Ranjhith,
You read a Carnatic music post? :O πŸ˜›

Most of the concerts are free. But even if it is a ticketed concert, tickets for the first few rows will only be around Rs. 200-500 (or more than that during the December Season). Otherwise tickets will be just 50 or 100 bucks max.

LOL! Hope I write on other subjects πŸ˜‰

    Hi Aparna,
The master sang “Appa Nan….” (PoorviKalyani) during the JAYA TV Margazhi Maha Utsavam during Dec-2006. The neraval was at the same place “Thappedu…” and he was signalling to the senior vidwan Shri Guruvayoor Durai on Mrindangam that “Thappedu Naan Seiyinum Nee Porutha arulal vendum”.

SUCH IS THE MODESTY OF SANJAY.

He was really in a mood and enjoying himself during that concert which was on the topci of TIRUVARUTPAA.”Yaaro Ivar…” was also sung at the JAYA TV Margazhi Maha Utsavam last year uder the topic of “TAMIZH MOOVAR”.

    Regards

Appa Naan Venduthal is really beautiful in Dwijavanthi as well. TNS sang it once in Dwijavanthi at Rathnagirishwarar Temple recently preceded by a detailed Virutham that was really nice. He sang a Kapi RTP there too πŸ™‚

    Sridhar,
Oh πŸ™‚ I came for that Tiruvarutpa concert too but I don’t remember that neraval though.

    Sathej,
I never knew there is a Dwijavanti version as well!
