Blue, Passage, Sanjay’s concert

What more can I ask for? I am finally listening to the ‘Blue’ songs now. The songs are all excellent!! šŸ™‚ I will try to write an elaborate post on it later. For now, I am happy getting lost in the magic of Rahman’s music. I listened to the tracks from ‘Passage’ yesterday and liked those too. I went for a Sanjay’s concert in the evening. Nattakurunji alapana & Begada were the highlights of this concert. I managed to read a book too today – Sudha Murty’s ‘How I Taught My Grandmother to Read & Other Stories’. Today has been a very satisfying day! šŸ™‚

P.S.: There seems to be some problem with my blog. šŸ™ Your comments will have to wait till it gets resolved. šŸ™

ARR Unplugged

Inspite of knowing that ARR’s unplugged concert was going to be telecast on DD last Sunday, I totally forgot about it and realized that I had forgotten to watch it only when I saw the messages in the group the next day! šŸ™ I finally found the time to watch the videos today and I just loved it! šŸ™‚ There should be more performances like this!

I switched on the computer planning to just check my mail and maybe read a few blogposts and then go to sleep early. But the result of watching the videos was that all I wanted to do was to just listen to his songs.

Dheemi Dheemi, Rang De Basanti, July Madham, If You Wanna Come Along, Puttham Pudhu Bhoomi, Spirit of Unity concert theme, Hey Goodbye Nanba, Andha Arabic, Aayo Re Sakhi, Veerapandi Kottayile, Like an Eagle, Chayya Chayya, Latika’s Theme, Muppadhu Nimidam, Mayya Mayya, Barso Re and the list goes on! I want to listen to all this and more right now, even while I am busy copying song after song of ARR to my mp3 player!

P.S: Writing this post has made me reminisce about how this blog was a couple of years back – when almost every alternate post of mine was on ARR’s music and the frequency of posts in this blog itself was much better than what it is now!

Dwijavanti & Delhi 6

I have been hooked big time to TNS’ Dwijavanti RTP and Delhi 6 (the title song) for the past one week. 2 completely contrasting songs! Can’t stop humming ‘ye dilli hai mere yaar’. Won’t Delhi 6 be the perfect song to listen to when you are going for a drive on a highway? The magic of TNS’ Dwijavanti continues! Absolute beauty, isn’t it? It just makes you lose yourself in the blissful music! 40 min seem to pass by in a jiffy! šŸ˜‰

Kannathil Muthamittal Revisited

Watching the last half an hour or so of Kannathil Muthamittal on K TV today morning, I remembered the post of mine that has been lying unfinished in the drafts for a long time now.

Sometime in June last year (this post has been in draft from that time!!), there was this thematic concert of T.M.Krishna that I went to. The theme of the concert was ā€˜Relationships’. As I heard a moving rendition of Mahakvi Bharatiyar’s ā€˜chinnanchiru kiLiye’(which he had chosen for the relationship between a father and his daughter) by TMK – how does he manage to bring so much bhava in everything that he sings! TMK rocks! šŸ™‚ –, I couldn’t help remembering the movie ā€˜Kannathil Muthamittal’ the moment he sang those lines in the song. šŸ™‚ As my thoughts drifted towards the movie, the first thing that came to my mind was what an apt title Mani Ratnam had chosen for the movie!

Songs to cherish

  • Mandolin Srinivas’ Enta Muddo
  • Mandolin Srinivas’ Giriraja Suta
  • Roja Janeman sung by Hariharan
  • Kanava Illai Kaatra from Ratchagan
  • New York Nagaram
  • July Maadham Vandhaal
  • Rahman’s ‘Spirit of Unity Concert’ Music
  • Guitar Prasanna’s ‘Peaceful – The Effect’

These songs will forever remain some of the most cherished ones in my life. The memories that these songs hold are special to me! šŸ™‚ It’s amazing how songs can capture so many memories so vividly!

Uyirum Neeye

Listening to Ravi sing this song in Super Singer today, I immediately wanted to listen to it and that’s what I am doing now. This song is one of my most favourites! Unni Krishnan singing the very beautiful lyrics, set to an even more beautiful music by the inimitable Rahman, with such an amazing feel makes it a song which seldom fails to touch my soul every time I listen to it! This is a gem of a composition indeed!

Good Morning! :)

Hooked big-time to this BGM from Swades. Just 40 seconds duration. Yet look at the magic that Rahman has created with his music! This is my mobile ring tone now. šŸ™‚ I just love the scene featuring this BGM. I wish it had not been deleted from the movie.

The day has begun on a great note, thanks to ARR’s music. šŸ™‚ I hope the rest of the day remains as great as the beginning. Good Morning, folks! šŸ™‚

Swades

I seem to be in love with the movie all over once again after watching it for the nth time today on Star One. Today was one of those days when I enjoyed each and every moment of the movie more than usual. I was absorbed in the movie. Completely! The village, villagers, excellent acting by Shahrukh and others, costumes, dialogues, amazing background music for each and every scene, songs, lyrics, Kaveri Amma, the love story of Gita and Mohan, the cute little village kids, I can just go on and on about every single thing in this movie! As much as I want to write a long post on it, I want to watch some of my favourite scenes from the movie again too. And since I don’t seem to have had enough of Swades for the day, this post will have to wait.

Slumdog Millionaire

Am now listening to the tracks of Slumdog Millionaire and with each listening, I seem to like each of the songs more and more. As much as I enjoyed reading/watching so many shows/articles/blog posts/interviews, etc. on A.R.Rahman post Oscars, I also got tired of hearing every other person saying that Slumdog Millionaire is not his best. I just wish everyone just enjoys the songs instead of repeatedly saying that it’s not his best. 😐 Though I haven’t listened to Jai Ho as much as Latika’s Theme or Mausam and Escape, that song has still really become one of my favourites.
