Music that moves you

I typed the previous post as a message in my mobile while I was travelling by bus. After a long time, I listened to songs in my mobile today while travelling since I didn’t take any book with me. While I was typing that post, I wasn’t paying attention to the songs that were playing when a song that played caught my attention – A.R.Rahman’s Tum Ho Meri from Kabhi Na Kabhi – a song that suited my mood perfectly. I have no clue about what the lyrics were. It was the music that had me captivated. In fact, I am listening to that song properly for the first time only today. I wonder how Rahman manages to create music to suit every possible mood! It was yet another moment when I was moved by his music. The song matched my mood so well that I was listening to it non-stop till I got down from the bus. Rahman rocks! 🙂

Azhagiya Tamizh Magan – The Songs

Listening to an album of A R Rahman for the first time – There is nothing else that can match the excitement felt at that moment. 🙂 And as usual, Rahman doesn’t disappoint you this time too. All the songs are good. But, something seems to be missing in most of the songs. Sometimes on listening to a song for the first time, you get hooked to it instantly and would not want to move on to the next song at all. There seems to be no song that fits into this category even after listening to all the songs continuously for more than 7 hours now. So I guess it’s going to take quite some time for me to start liking the songs of ATM in the way I like the songs of Rahman.

Azhagiya Tamizh Magan

After listening to the trailer (I don’t know how anyone can tolerate watching Vijay!) of Azhagiya Tamizh Magan here continuously for almost an hour now, I must say all the songs seem to be good. 🙂 I can’t wait to listen to the songs fully. Eagerly waiting for Monday! 🙂

Btw, this is my 200th post 😀

Instrumentals of Rahman’s songs in Ooh La La La

From the afternoon, I have been repeatedly listening to the remixed instrumental versions of Thee Thee and Jiya Jale, remixed by the bands of Ooh La La La! In the last episode of Ooh La La La, which I, as usual, watched only on the net much later, the band Track 1 had played Thee Thee and the band Oxygen had played Nenjinile/Jiya Jale. The violin in Thee Thee got me hooked to it immediately! 🙂 Though I was not able to find any fault at all when I listened to it first, after hearing H.Sridhar’s comments, I realized the things that they should have improved upon. But, anyway, the violin is so good that it’s hard to divert your attention to other things at all!

Aayitha Ezhuthu on Kalaignar TV

I watched some parts of Aayitha Ezhuthu telecast on Kalaignar TV today. I was surprised to see that one scene was not shown on the channel. The scene right after the song, Jana Gana Mana, where a Sun TV reporter is shown interviewing Suriya after he files his nomination was the one! Was that because the reporter was shown to be from Sun TV?! :O

A few extra dialogues were shown at the end of the movie. This was not there in the movie when I watched it in theatre. When Suriya is seated in the Assembly, in the background you can hear his voice saying, ‘Idhu mudivillai. Idhu oru aarambam. Iniyoru iniyoru vidhi seivom. Vidhiyinai maatrum vidhi seivom.’

Top 5 Current Favourite Songs

Songs that I have been repeatedly listening to in the past few weeks:

Akkadannu Naanga from Indian

This one tops the list of my current favourites. For the past couple of weeks or so, I have been listening to it at least 2-3 times a day. The interlude at 2.06 minutes is driving me crazy. It makes you go wow! Listen to it here:

I remember reading somewhere that the beat of this song is similar to some other song. But, who cares about all that. This song is sure to get you energized after a tiring day. I sometimes feel even Rahman hasn’t come out with a song that can beat the energy levels of this one!

From just another Rahman fan to a Rahmaniac – The journey

Warning: The longest-ever post in this blog follows! Read it if you have the time and patience.

Initially when I thought about what to write to mark the 15 years of completion of A R Rahman in the world of films, I couldn’t think of any specific aspect to focus on. Besides, I was thinking what’s so special on completing 15 years? After all, Rahman has been associated with/composing music for a period more than that. But, did I listen to his music before 15 years, knowing that the music that I was listening to was composed by him (Am referring to the jingles etc. here)? Hasn’t these 15 years made a difference to my life in a way it can’t be imagined? Besides, I thought I had said everything I wanted to say about his music in my earlier post. But, can proper justice be done to the magic produced by Rahman’s music in just a single post?! So, here’s my journey of how I transformed from just another fan of A R Rahman into a Rahmaniac.

Vandisolai Chinnarasu

I listened properly to most of the songs from the movie, Vandisolai Chinnarasu for the first time only yesterday! Considering the fact that ARR scored music for this movie way back in 1994 and I have been a fan of his right from the beginning, I must say I am listening to it veryyyy late! 🙁
