Recently, as someone typed a surprised smiley when I told him that a majority of the concerts here are ‘All are welcome’ ones, I remembered the numerous instances when my same reply was met with the same response from so many people and how Carnatic music still remains unfamiliar to many people. 7. What Prasanna called as the ‘Carnaticized’ version of his composition based on Kambhoji and Kapi from ‘Smile Pinki’ – the documentary which won the Oscar award this year for ‘Best Documentary Short Subject’. Prasanna composed the music for this documentary.

After more than a year, there was a concert of Prasanna here on Saturday. But, since that was in Villivakkam, an inaccessible area for me, I was not able to go for it. So, I didn’t want to miss today’s concert at any cost. I don’t have anything specific to write about except that, as expected, I absolutely enjoyed every moment of this concert. 🙂 How I wish more concerts of Prasanna happens here!

Before the concert, violinist Embar Kannan was awarded the title ‘isai tenRal’ by Isai. Sangita Kalanidhi M. Chandrasekaran was the chief guest. After all the speeches, Ravikiran’s concert started very late. And this was the reason why Ravikiran decided to skip playing alapana, neraval, etc. for Sri Subrahmanyaya Namaste and had the tani Avartanam alone for it.
Overall, the concert was very good. Didn’t find anything extraordinary but.
