I look out of the window and see the leaves of the coconut, palm and other trees swaying gently to, what I suppose is, a light breeze. Seeing the sky covered with clouds makes me wish I could go out of this air-conditioned room and enjoy the pleasant weather. Listening to the very beautiful instrumental version of pudhu veLLai mazhai, I suprisingly feel like humming yeh haseen vaadiyaan, yeh khula aasmaan, and not my favourite pudhu veLLai mazhai! I see a lone bird happily flying from one tree to another. It’s a beautiful morning! The song has changed and I am now all set to get mesmerized by the brilliant Brindavana Saranga of TNS and MSG!

Happy World Environment Day!
From dawn to dusk, from dusk to dawn, the nature in all its glory and splendour is a delight to admire.
Bidding adieu to the stars, sun wakes up and along with it, the sky full of clouds or a clear sky starts trying out multitude shades of blue, golden yellow, pink, red and even light hues of purple. With chirping of birds and dewdrops on leaves and grass being the other accompaniments, can there be anything more serene and beautiful than this? A whole new day begins. 🙂 And the sun then starts shining brightly.

It’s raining! :)
It’s raining here! Yay! 🙂 Thunder, lightning, cool breeze, maN vaasanai, semma mazhai! Listening to the thunder and rain pouring, I am now happily singing
thandhaane thandhaane maega kooTTam thandhaane
iDiyellaam taaLam dhaane
mazhai thuLi maNNil vandhu sindha chindha ezhugiradhe oru vaasam
adhu ennai vaanavillil koNDu saertthu viDugiradhe sila naeram
😀 Veyil had been unbearable for the past 2 days with the temperature crossing 42 degree celsius. And now what a super weather! 🙂
I want mazhai!
My current favourite songs are Manamadurai and Poo Pookkum Oasai from Minsara Kanavu and Chinna Kuyil Koovum from Yavarum Nalam (Yavarum Nalam songs deserve a separate post). Though I like the entire lyrics of all the 3 songs very much, my current favourite lines from two of those songs are related to rain and I just can’t stop humming those!
From Manamadurai:
thandhaane thandhaane maega kooTTam thandhaane
iDiyellaam taaLam dhaane
mazhai thuLi maNNil vandhu sindha chindha ezhugiradhe oru vaasam
adhu ennai vaanavillil koNDu saertthu viDugiradhe sila naeram
From Chinna Kuyil Koovum:
mazhai thuLi aayiram
kaDal maDi thaeDudhe
alaigaLaaga maaRi thuLLi aaDiDave
If only it rains here now, how great it would be! 🙂 And what a great respite it will be from the veyyil!
P.S.: Just as I was about to publish this post, I saw that Word had auto-corrected chinna of Chinna Kuyil to china and this old He-She was what I remembered immediately 🙂
:)
Fresh. Cheerful. No signs of boredom. Silently humming song after song. 🙂 Enjoying the pleasant weather (There’s still a slight drizzle). Going for a stroll with the cold rain drops caressing me. Now lost in Barso Re. If only I had got a window seat today morning, this perfect day would have had an even better beginning. A weather like this is meant to be enjoyed with the window kept open.
Awaiting the Spring Season!
andhi vaanam araikkum manjaL
koNRai poovil kuLittha manjaL
It’s that time of the year again when the above lines from pacchai nirame are the ones that I get reminded of every time I step out on the roads. The spring season is slowly beginning in Chennai. I saw the first of the copper pods bloom on some trees in L.B.road some three weeks back and a couple of weekends back saw the first of the yellow carpet of copper pods on Boat Club Road. It’s just a matter of a week or so before my city gets decorated by the yellow of the copper pods.

konRai pookaL
Many parts of Chennai were adorned by these beautiful ‘sara konRai’ flowers until a couple of weeks back. (Even now the flowers are still present but, the yellow colour of the flowers has started to fade away.) These flowers look so beautiful covering the whole tree with very few leaves visible! The sara konRai flowers are considered to be sacred for Lord Shiva. Say konRai pookaL and the first thing that comes to my mind immediately is the line from ‘Pachchai Nirame’, ‘konRai poovil kuLittha manjaL’! 🙂 The botanical name of this flower is Cassia Fistula
Here are some snaps of the lovely flowers that I took a few weeks back:

Moon
Sunset
The one road on which I like travelling in the evenings is the Adyar Bridge. If you are someone who likes to see sunrise or sunset, then you must surely travel by the Adyar Bridge at around 6 pm. The sun appearing like an orange ball, the sky in myriad hues of pink and its reflection on the water! Wow! Thank God water is there atleast in Adyar river!
