Even as I am trying hard to keep my eyes open (the sleepiness that creeps in post lunch!), a dozen thoughts flash through my mind and I have started pondering over the questions that I have been asking myself for quite sometime now. Hasn’t predictability crept into my life in the form of things that I do everyday? Have I not got settled into this routine a bit too comfortably? Everything from the music that I listen to, the movies that I watch, the concerts that I go for, the newspapers, books & blogs that I read, the websites that I visit, to the food that I eat, the work that I do, the people whom I chat with, seems to have an air of predictability to it. There’s predictability in every single thing that I do! A kind of monotony seems to have crept in. But then I am not complaining about it at all and I do like it most of the times. Despite that, the urge to break free from this routine does make a grand appearance once in a while and now is one such moment. But what do I do to achieve that is THE big question!

I had been to Vaalpaarai and Topslip during the September 20th and 21st weekend with my team. This was a trip that I had been looking forward to for the past couple of months.
We left for Coimbatore from here by Nilagiri Express on Friday night. Reaching the ever-busy Central Station, meeting up with friends, choosing seats on the then empty train, thus began our tour.

Listening to Rahman’s songs for the past couple of hours or so, this is what I feel like screaming out loud. 😉 Though I cannot remember the exact time from when Rahman’s music or for that matter, music itself ceased being just a form of entertainment to me, these days, music is the one thing that works wonders for me whenever am feeling low. I have this playlist of Rahman’s songs that is of some 14 hours duration. I clicked on the Play button and lost track of the minutes that passed. 😉
& lots more. God knows how many times I have listened to all these songs. Yet my liking for these songs only increases every time I listen to it. Experiencing the magic of Rahman’s music is a magical experience in itself. 😉 What’s life without music?
The songs of Vaaranam Aayiram are what I have been listening to since morning today. As is the case with most of Harris Jeyaraj’s songs, all the songs have an already-heard-before feel to it. No song is bad though. Here’s my ranking of the songs:

6. Ava Enna by Karthik and Prasanna – Another boring song with classic dappankutthu beats. I liked the humming interlude at 3:05 till 3:33.

I wanted to watch Poi Solla Porom. When I came to know that it was a remake of Khosla Ka Ghosla, I wanted to watch it first and watched it last week. I found it to be just a good time pass movie. All the actors have given an excellent performance and that I would say, is the biggest plus of the movie. The plot that Parvin Dabas and others come up with to fool Boman Irani and their executing it so easily without any hassles, seemed so unbelievable. It would have been better if there had been some twists. After watching this, I am not sure if I will watch Poi Solla Porom.
I returned from a weekend trip to Vaalpaarai and Topslip today morning. Had a great time there. Before I write about it, I want to be done with my rant first!
I keep ranting here often about how it is almost always Todi that I get to hear as the main in most of TMK’s concerts that I go to. I had written in my previous post on T.M.Krishna’s concert that when he started the Todi alapana, I felt like screaming ‘Somebody please tell Krishna that he should sing raagams other Todi as main more often!’ That was how desperate I was to listen to him sing some other raagam as main. And sing he did in his concert last Friday. That too one of my most favourite raagams, Kedaragowlai! But unfortunately, I missed the concert since I had to catch the train that evening. 🙁
Last Thursday, right from the moment I reached home from office till about 11 in the night and again on Friday morning till I left for work, I was continuously listening to TMK’s recordings! I listened to all my favourites except only one – the elaborate Kedaragowlai alapana followed by Saragunapalimpa! I just love that song! Just imagine how it would have been had I gone for that concert and heard him sing it live!! I can’t tell you how disappointed I am! 🙁
