Boat Club Road

I always enjoy going for a walk in Boat Club Road. The moment you enter Boat Club Road from Chamiers Road, you feel as though you are in another world what with the chirping of birds and the huge trees that do not let in much of sunlight and a very calm atmosphere. It’s just you, your thoughts and silence that are present (with the chirping of birds in the background 😉 ), with the silence occasionally broken by the sound of a vehicle passing by or by the sound of a few people (either those going for a walk or the watchmen/servants of the big bungalows) talking amongst themselves not so loudly. You need no music when you are in there 🙂 You just won’t have the heart to come back to the busy, noisy main road. 🙂

Here’s the photo of the number two for day 2:

As a kid, I used to love holding those new, crisp notes having this number 2. 🙂 Why did we have to switch over to coins now?….In case you didn’t find out where this number 2 was present, this should help you 🙂 :

Kanchipuram Kailasanathar Temple

I recently went to quite a few temples in Kanchipuram. The temples I went to are Kamakshi Amman, Ekambareswarar, Kumarakottam, UlagaLandha perumAL (the idol of ulagaLandha perumAL is majestic!) and kailAsanAthar. Till I saw the kailAsanAthar temple, I had no clue about the fact that it was built by the Pallavas in a typical Pallava architectural style. The sculptures there, were all so beautiful. Once I saw the temple, I couldn’t resist taking photos. 🙂 Since I didn’t take my camera with me, I took some photos with my mobile. Here are some:

Chak De

After hearing every other person rave about this movie, I finally watched it some days back. It felt great to watch a good Hindi movie after a long time and it also managed to help me forget the bad experience of watching Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, the last movie of Shahrukh that I saw. That is one movie that I wished I had not watched. It made me lose interest in watching Shahrukh’s movies!

Now, the storyline of Chak De is quite predictable right from the start to finish. You know Shahrukh is going to make the girls team eventually win the World Cup. You see a whole bunch of stereotyped people who are still not willing to believe that women do have a right to succeed in their chosen career and you know that at the end of the day, these very people will come forward and feel proud of the women achieving success. So, what’s there in this movie that makes it special? It’s the moments like the one where Shahrukh tries to make the girls from different regions and diverse backgrounds start playing together as a team, the one where he makes them understand that they are playing for their country and not representing their own states, the one where the girls unite and beat up the men at McDonalds (Those sort of men deserve that 😛 ), the one when Komal passes the ball to Preeti in the final match and lots more! Considering the standard of the current Hindi films, I wish more films like this one were made!
