Sanjay Subrahmanyan’s Kutcheris

This is also a better late than never post! The past two weeks have been great what with 3 excellent concerts of Sanjay’s, that too Sanjay being accompanied by Varadarajan on the violin (my favourite combo) for all the concerts! If I start describing the concerts, this would become similar to all my earlier posts on Sanjay’s concerts. 😉 So I am going to post just the songs lists. Here are the list of songs sung by Sanjay in the past three concerts (including today’s) that I went to.

Songs on Jaya Max

These days, with three Tamil music channels, I get to see my favourite songs often on TV. Day before yesterday was one such day. I wanted to write this post on that day itself. Anyway, better late than never!

The whole of day before yesterday, the one song that I was continuously listening to was ‘nee oru kadhal sangeetham’ – my favourite song from Nayagan. I don’t know why but the scene in the video of this song that I like the most is the one where Kamal and Sharanya will be sitting inside their house and all of a sudden, raindrops start leaking (or should I say pouring?) through the roof and they move to a corner and a group of pigeons comes inside through the door. The music in the background when this scene comes, is one of the best interludes. While listening to the song, I got reminded of this scene and I very badly wanted to watch it. I had decided that I will watch the song on youtube soon. But the moment I switched on the TV on reaching home, guess what song had just started playing on Jaya Max? nee oru kadhal sangeetham! A pleasant surprise it was! 😉

I hate waiting!

Yesterday I had to go for a teammate’s engagement. I had planned with other teammates and told them that I will be there at the same time as them. But as usual, I was the first to reach there and others didn’t turn up till it was almost an hour since I reached there! 😐 Imagine having to sit through the whole function all alone without knowing anybody there! Why is it me who always turns up first everywhere? 🙁

It was a small hall and I chose to sit in a corner since I knew nobody there. Since I couldn’t see what was happening on stage, I moved to another chair and sat. At that time, people started distributing flowers to everyone to throw it on the couple and bless them. When people started moving forward to throw the flowers, I went to the last row and sat lest some flowers got thrown on me (!). Within a few minutes, someone came and asked those of us sitting in that row to turn our chairs and sit facing the table that was there behind and have our dinner! Since I had to wait for others to come, I moved to another corner and sat. I felt so stupid moving from one chair to another and keep waiting. 😐 Before I knew it, everybody except the couple and their close relatives maybe, were having dinner and I was asked by many to go and have my dinner. Tired of waiting, I had my dinner and just as I was about to finish it, others turned up finally!

I hate days like these when I have to wait all alone for others. 😡 In times like these, my mobile phone is the one that comes to my rescue – I either SMS friends or call them up or type blog posts while waiting. Without my mobile, it would have been even worse yesterday!

On Jambupate & My Favourite Raagams

There are some raagams that have always made me forget everything else and lose myself in its beauty completely. 🙂 To name a few, here they are:

Angry Emoticons

In WordPress, :-x/:x represent angry smiley -> 😡
In Yahoo, X-(/X( represent angry smiley ->
In Yahoo, :x/:-x represent love-struck smiley ->

Imagine typing [:-x] in Yahoo instead of X( for an angry smiley! 😐

Why isn’t a standard symbol being used everywhere? It’s so confusing 🙁

When boredom strikes….

I don’t know why but all of a sudden, I seemed to have got bored of a lot of things. The past few days nothing failed to interest me – nothing at all! I took a book to read but that didn’t interest me! I thought of writing a blog post to keep myself occupied and I realized that I found that too boring! I heard myself saying, ‘A blog post on how good a concert was or how super a Rahman’s song is or how beautiful the sunset was? Not again!’ Adding to it, some things that really irritated me had happened and the boredom reached its peak. So what did I do to beat boredom?

Kadhalikka neramillai

A couple days back, I saw a blue and white Plymouth car in Boat Club Road. Seeing the car reminded me of the movie, ‘Kadhalikka neramillai’ – Muthuraman leaving for picnic in the Plymouth car and V.S.Raghavan looking at the car in shock and surprise wondering how on earth his car ended up with this rich millionaire. ‘Kadhalikka neramillai’ is one of my favourite movies. It’s a movie that I am never tired of watching. The scene where Nagesh narrates the story of his movie to Balaiah and Balaiah’s reactions to it, the way Balaiah talks and treats Chidambaram/Muthuraman with so much respect (real bhaya bhakti? 😉 ) completely unaware that he is being fooled by them, Nagesh trying to make Sacchu act are the scenes that instantly come to my mind every time I think I about the movie. Nagesh and Balaiah are the real stars of the movie.

Unlike during the Season, there was complete silence in the whole auditorium during the entire concert. There was not much of a crowd either at the balcony. All these made for a perfect ambience to listen to the Ranjani, which according to me, was the best part of the concert. Listening to the Ranjani alapana that was a sheer beauty and the rendition of the line kanchdaLa lOchanI kAmAkshI in ranjani niranjani, bringing out the beauty of the raaga and the lyrics, was bliss!
