When luck strikes thrice! :)

My sister and I had gone to Odyssey to get ‘Ada’ CD and I was just paying the money for it when guess who entered the shop!! Madhavan!!! :O We were not able to believe it!! We went and said ‘Hi Madhavan!’ and he said Hi. I then said we liked his movie, ‘Evano Oruvan’ very much and he said a Thank you and said he was just back from a shoot. He had come there with his son. I then asked if I can take a photo of his and he said he was just back from a shoot and he was all black. He anyway obliged and I took one with my mobile. We then thanked him and left. We anyway, didn’t want to disturb him.

But the photo has not come out well. šŸ™ Considering the excitement in which I was, I would have been surprised had it come out properly. šŸ˜‰ Anyway, here’s the photo:

This is the third time I am seeing Madhavan! šŸ™‚ The first time was at Essen Musicals at Alwarpet where he had come along with Simran and Keerthana for the launch or rather promoting the CD/Cassettes of Kannatthil Muthamittal. The second time was at the DVD launch of Mani Ratnam’s movies by Mani himself where Madhavan spoke about his experience of working with Mani Ratnam. So luck struck for the third time today. šŸ™‚

ARR’s songs in 2007

I was thinking about all the songs of ARR that released last year and ended up categorizing them as per my level of liking it. Sivaji and Azhagiya Tamizh Magan were the two albums of Rahman that released last year. Elizabeth – The Golden Age & the Marhaba song in Al Risalah released too but I have listened to Marhaba only a couple of times and I have not yet listened to songs of The Golden Age. So I am excluding those two here.

Songs that I love – the ones I consider to be The Best:

  • Vaaji vaaji
  • Oru koodai sunlight

Other favourites:

  • Sahana/Sahara
  • VaLayapaTTi
  • Maduraikku

Song that alternates between ā€˜The Best’ and ā€˜Other favourite’ categories:

  • athiradee

Song that needs more listening:

  • nee Marilyn Monroe – I did like it very much when I heard it live in ARR’s concert. Still I have to listen to it some more before I can decide the category in which I will put it into šŸ˜‰

Songs that I don’t listen to anymore:

  • Balleilakka
  • kaeLaamal
  • ella pugazhum
  • The Boss

What is your choice of songs for each of these categories?

Flowers Galore!

The months of March-May, which everybody hate because of the scorching summer here, are among the ones that I enjoy the most in Madras. No it’s not because of the summer, but because of the fact that Madras is at its beautiful max during these months! With the autumn ending by February end or so and the onset of spring thereafter, the month of March is when all the trees are adorned with not only fresh, new leaves but also the flowers that start blooming, giving company to the leaves. šŸ™‚

Sunrise at Marina Beach

My sister and I went to Marina beach today to see the sunrise. The first rays of sun appearing, the golden-orange sun and its reflection on water and sand, the sky in various hues of orange, pink, gray and blue were all so beautiful!

Here are some photos taken by us:

Scrabble + Music is Fun!

Listening to (and singing along) A.R.Rahman’s songs non-stop over a game of Scrabble with my sister is what I consider to be one of the best ways to spend a holiday! Enjoyed doing that today after quite sometime. šŸ™‚ It brings back the memories of the many summer vacations when we used to do that almost the whole day. šŸ™‚

Ssshhhh

It is said pagalla pakkam paatthu paesu raathrila adhuvum paesadhe. It so happens that I often keep forgetting this and I realize that the person whom I am talking about or someone close to that person is sitting right next to me only after I finish talking! 😐 It may not be anything bad about that person but it will definitely be something that I wouldn’t want him/her to hear. I hope at least in the future, I remember to look around me before I open my mouth.

Ambikapathi

Yesterday being a holiday, I was doing channel surfing hoping to find some good movie to watch.

  • A Simbu movie on Sun TV – Who can watch him on screen for 2.5+ hours! 😐
  • Some boring movie on K TV (featuring Sibiraj?)
  • Mozhi on Kalaignar – this movie can be watched only once & I have already watched it once. Of course the movie was good, can be watched with the whole family, etc. But I couldn’t find anything great in this that would make have made me want to watch it again and again. I don’t like the kaaTrin mozhi song either.
  • Ilayaraja concert on Raj TV in which whenever I saw, Ilayaraja was only singing – There are times when I wonder if he knows how bad his voice sounds! He is a genius music composer who has given so many wonderful songs and I wish he had stopped with that and not started singing his songs.
  • IPL cricket match on Set Max – Cricket fails to interest me even one bit.
  • Ambikapathi on Mega TV – Yeah Mega TV was the channel that finally came to my rescue.
