Super Singer Junior
Are any of you watching it now? Why can’t they restrict the show to the parts where these kids sing? Do we have to watch them wake up, brush their teeth, eat their breakfast, visit the saloon and do what not?! Of course, this is not happening in this show alone. Indian Idol, shows in Channel V and lots more show all these.
By the way, why are the contestants, their parents and the show director or whatever you call the people who decide what is to be shown on TV in the show, act as though losing the contest means the end of their career in the field or something? (The sad BGM that comes whenever someone loses is irritating!) All said and done, it is just a competition and you get to know where you stand among others by participating in one. Please understand that before participating in a competition.

Hello Aparna,
I don’t watch the show. But, very good advice.End of the world after losing a competition!? This is not the attitude that must be developed, especially in children. At that impressionable age, they must be taught to move on after failures. After all, life is not a bed of roses!

heh. the contestants and their parents understand it only too well. it’s the program production people want to dramatize the whole thing, and put a life-and-death spin on it.

I saw a single episode from the programme and terriably upset while watching a girl who is crying in upbeat for beaten by her own sister. this will definitely cause some infiriority and some unwanted and unhealthy competitions among kids!
[Also chinmayi is speaking very positively in this issue ….http://sudhishkamath.blogspot.com/2007/06/test-podcast-chinmayi-chats-with-gangai.html]

Yeah..I watch all these reality shows…Wanted to write a post on them…Its all rigged up basically..Am not too sure about Super Singer Junior though…First thing, I don’t like the way Chinmayi comperes…She’s way too expressive, a bit dramatic, as I would like to call it…The parents, of these participants are very ambitious…They always like to see their kids winning in each and every single endeavor of theirs…They do not expose their children to a term called ‘failure’…That’s very depressing…This is the reason why children cannot accept failure that very easily…
Don’t tell me about the extra thingies that they show on TV, apart from the competition…the brushing part, the bathing part (!) etc etc….Man ! One sponsor, advertises na porum….these ppl will take the maximum advantage of him and keep going on and on and on (wrt their episode count :|)

Sathej,
Yes
Daneel,
The parents & participants shouldn’t let the production people dramatize the whole thing to this extent!
Sivaraman,
I too watched that episode! It was irritating! I wanted to write a blog post on that on the day itself. But, somehow missed out.
Nithya,

Yeah very soon we will have kids asking what’s meant by failure?
Voltfarce,
Yeah I know it’s similar to American Idol.
Now that you say it, maybe the mega serial viewers won’t want to watch if there’s no drama in this
Dinesh,
Yes I did read it.
Shyam,
But, the people who read it already seem to have understood it
Welcome to my blog!

I’ve been regularly watching since pre-quarterfinal knockout round. I agree with you on the soga BGM they play :-\
I can atleast accept a 10-12 year old crying, but why is her mother crying there
and they shoot and show it on TV too (doh)

become professional.

yo dat interviewer Chinmayi is daam to expressive…she needs to relax herself and calm down…..some judges were easy some weren’t this was more of a luck then talent game. neways really enjoy the show…
Madras Fella on 20 Jul 2007 at 12:10 pm #
hi aparna, you are right. this criticism has come up in the recent time. I was really saddened to see those kids with long faces esp. when a girl entered thru the wild card entry. they should handle this issue effectively
Aparna on 20 Jul 2007 at 5:26 pm #
Madras Fella,
Unless the parents first understand and then, make their kids understand that it is after all just a competition, I don’t think we can see any change in these sort of shows
