When minutes matter!
Now don’t think this post is about some serious thing on reading the title. This post is just about my laziness!
‘2 minutes Ma!’ – That’s where it all starts. That is the reply that I give my mother everyday morning when she wakes me up. 2 minutes extra sleep becomes 10-15 minutes and by the time I sit with the coffee in my hand, the countdown for catching my bus would have already begun!
These days, since I go for a walk on most of the days, I have to accommodate that also in the mornings. Thanks to that ‘2 minutes’ sleep, by the time I leave for walk, it would have already been 6:15 am or so. I either go for a 30+-minute walk or I don’t go at all. So by the time I come back, I will have less than half an hour with me to take bath, get ready, have my breakfast and leave for the bus stop. So almost everyday, I have my breakfast in a hurry and rush to my bus-stop which won’t take more than 2 minutes for me to reach! And I won’t have that 2 minutes time itself to walk in a relaxed manner to my bus-stop! I have to almost run to be there on time. Blame it all on that 2-minute sleep!
It’s another fact that even before I started going for a walk, I still used to rush to my stop on many days! But again the culprit was the same ‘2-minute’ sleep at that time too!
I do try to get up immediately as soon as my mother wakes me up, but catching 2 more minutes of sleep tempts me so much that I am not able to do it. Believe me, that 2 minutes sleep is bliss!
I think I have written enough about the 2-minute sleep. I hope that the day when I will have lots of time to eat my breakfast slowly and will have the two minutes to walk to my bus-stop unhurriedly, comes soon. I know eating hurriedly and then half-walking, half-running immediately isn’t good at all. Wish me luck in my fight against the two-minute sleep! ![]()

Heeeheee, I love the morning snoozes. But ever since I have been awway from home, with the alarm as my wake up call, i set it a good 20 minutes before I REALLY want to wake up, get my 2 mins sleep, like 10 times :–)

those last 2 minutes are pure bliss. i agree.
all the best, though.

Puranjoy: Here’s an idea. Combine the “I hate waiting” post with this one, and savor the delicious irony of it all.
Here’s what really happened. You were late at the engagement, your friends had come and left before you had arrived there. They came back later because they felt pity for you. To spare you further embarrassment, they played along as if they had just arrived there.
Aparna: Who said you had to have an idea?
Sathej on 27 Feb 2008 at 9:51 pm #
Absolute bliss, yes….those 2 minutes. Happens almost every day with me too. I have to rush every day to ensure I don’t miss the first hour class at college which is sadly at 8 AM. But this semester, the college people have been very considerate and so on most days we have the first class only at 9AM
But even then, the 2 minutes sleep gets extended and still I hurry. Anyway, its great that you manage a walk inspite of all this. All the best anyway to you and myself too

I usually rise early.. Love the yoga & solitude morning walks on the beach and stuff. But am like jixed when it comes to keeping appointments in the morning… anywhere before 10 is really tuff for me to make it right on time…! :-s and those are the days when I’m still on bed until 10!

Harii,
Thank you
Amit,
Even during the time when I had to be away from home, I didn’t learn it. It was even worse at that time
Vidhya,
The only time I missed was because the bus had come earlier than usual.
Am so happy that I don’t miss my bus generally
>Weekly 2 days working day in that too im mising my college bus and not attending my college due to my 5 mins extra sleep..
That’s very bad!
Arvind,
I too used to do that during the time when I was away from home
Mathangi,

Adiya,
SK,
But if I try doing that, the moment the alarm goes off, I will remember that it’s 20 min faster and will stop it & sleep for longer than 20 min!
That’s a good idea
Priya,
Thank you!
Puranjoy,
What a fantastic idea!!
Sathej,
Good that your classes start late. Thanks & all the best!
Nandu,
>>Love the yoga & solitude morning walks on the beach and stuff.
Wow! I wish I could do all that!
Oh. Only rarely do I sleep beyond 7. So morning appointments aren’t a prob for me

My ‘2 minutes ma’ actually starts at 8am and goes on til about 9 (sometimes even til noon on Saturdays)
“I hope that the day when I will have lots of time to eat my breakfast slowly and will have the two minutes to walk to my bus-stop unhurriedly, comes soon”
- I hope the day, after it comes to you, would pay me a visit too
Aparna on 11 Mar 2008 at 9:14 pm #
Roopa,
Hope the day comes to us soon
It seems to be the same story everywhere
