When luck strikes thrice! :)

My sister and I had gone to Odyssey to get ‘Ada’ CD and I was just paying the money for it when guess who entered the shop!! Madhavan!!! :O We were not able to believe it!! We went and said ‘Hi Madhavan!’ and he said Hi. I then said we liked his movie, ‘Evano Oruvan’ very much and he said a Thank you and said he was just back from a shoot. He had come there with his son. I then asked if I can take a photo of his and he said he was just back from a shoot and he was all black. He anyway obliged and I took one with my mobile. We then thanked him and left. We anyway, didn’t want to disturb him.

But the photo has not come out well. πŸ™ Considering the excitement in which I was, I would have been surprised had it come out properly. πŸ˜‰ Anyway, here’s the photo:

This is the third time I am seeing Madhavan! πŸ™‚ The first time was at Essen Musicals at Alwarpet where he had come along with Simran and Keerthana for the launch or rather promoting the CD/Cassettes of Kannatthil Muthamittal. The second time was at the DVD launch of Mani Ratnam’s movies by Mani himself where Madhavan spoke about his experience of working with Mani Ratnam. So luck struck for the third time today. πŸ™‚

We met him as he hosted the premiere of Evano Oruvan in the bay area. You can see a link to it in the video bar of my blog. The audio is not good because… you guessed it… taken with a cell phone. My wife was trying to impress him by recalling one of his early serials on DD. I made a wisecrack that we are not even sure if he was in the serial but it was a damn good serial.
And this was my take on the movie itself
    http://inadeeptrance.blogspot.com/2007/10/evano-oruvan-falling-down-in-madras.html
There was a Q&A towards the end of the screening. Further angered my wife (and Maddy) when I pointed out that EO seemed like a rip-off of Falling Down… in front of the whole audience. Like my wife says… I watch too many movies!
Oddly enough, I admire his personality and put him alongside Aamir Khan as ‘thinking’ actors of India.

    Lucky Aparna Hi,

    Wow…Must be a great feeling.

Yeah he is one of the best actors that tamil film industry has and to go with that hid charming smile can really add wonders.

EO was really a good movie I liked it as it expressed the reality of today’s common man in a great manner.

    Hope you meet him again.

    Regards

I met him for the first time when he came for a photo session at TTK rd Univercell. That was the first ever time I stood beside a celebrity for a pic. Sadly that pic never turned up πŸ™

    Vijay,
I read your post when you posted itself πŸ™‚ But didn’t watch the video. Will watch it soon. Oh. I am curious to know what Madhavan said when you told him that Evano Oruvan was similar to Falling Down.

    >>I admire his personality and put him alongside Aamir Khan as β€˜thinking’ actors of India.
Me too though I don’t like most of his movies.

    Adiya,
    πŸ™‚

    Saravanan,
πŸ™‚ Yes Evano Oruvan captured so well the frustration felt by the common man because of the corrupt system and the money-minded people!

    Dinesh,
That’s bad πŸ™ Btw, I have never taken a photo with any celebrity till now.

    Aparna,
    Lucky you too! πŸ™‚

:O Can’t believe it! It’s a small world after all πŸ˜‰ I would love to read your experience. Please post it soon. πŸ™‚

I see from the shot that your hands were trembling and the camera lens was also probably covered with a coating of a substance which is commonly known as jollo πŸ˜‰

Great. What a luck. But you should have taken a photo standing next to him…
Generally people do that and then frame the photo and put in their drawing rooms. πŸ™‚

Seems that you are very lucky.. Even I’m a fan of Maddy and had I been in your shoes (being third time lucky), I’d rather have posed with him on the pic and asked someone else to click the pic for me… That would have made for a better memorabilia… Remember this when you get lucky again… πŸ˜‰

    Arun,
πŸ˜› You should remember that this is just a mobile camera & when you hurriedly click, the pic surely won’t come out well.

    Aravind,
    Nope

    Aravind/Amit/Arvind/Vidhya/Venkat,
I was happy on just seeing him unexpectedly itself πŸ˜‰ Besides, I got the impression that he didn’t want to be disturbed. So at that moment, taking this photo itself was a big thing.

    Arvind,
    > in that case i am sure u couldn’t flaunt it in ur blog
I can always crop the photo & flaunt here πŸ˜›

Thanks for your wishes πŸ˜‰ If I see Rahman again, that will be the third time too πŸ™‚

Ah! But this guy looks more like a Madhavan look-alike than Madhavan himself!

πŸ˜€ May be he looks different on screen. The only big celebrity I have run into is Mani Ratnam. And in Tirupathi on different occasions saw Nagarjuna and ‘Cry baby’ Sreesanth!

    Here are a few others

Sankar Mahadevan (Amirtanandamayi B’day Celebrations, Cochin – I was in charge of VIP accommodation)
    L Subramanium & Kavitha Krishnamurthy ( ditto)
Radio Mirchi Suchitra ( She was the voice-over artist for our product)
Cartoonist Madan (I was waiting outside the trial room in Pantaloons when he came out!)
Lekha Washington (IPL girl) (in front of me in billing – Landmark)
Roja ( Inside a car next to my bike)
Aishwarya (not Rai) (Again inside a car)
Sibiraj (During the shoot of ‘Lee’ outside my office)
Vijay TV ‘Nandu Sendu Vandu’ guy! (Sathyam Cinemas)
Sathyan (‘Hello! I am Sanjay Ramasami’ fame) (Spencer Plaza)
‘Lollu Sabha’ Manohar (He was a fellow foot-boarder in a bus!)

I know many of them are too silly, but still…!

L Subramaniam! Well, as for musicians, you can easily see them all at the Academy lobby during the season, even more high profile ones πŸ™‚

He doesn’t look any different on screen.
I too have seen a few silly celebrities

    Rukesh,
Am good. Hope you are doing great too. I have been a bit busy the past few days. That’s why I didn’t find the time to write about Ada and JTYJN. I like the songs of Ada very much. Have listened to JTYJN only a couple of times. How do you like the songs?

    Hi Aparna,

Doing good. For me Ada sounds good than JTYJNa….but JTYJN is a different one from ARR.

    Cheers,
    Aparna.
