Naan Vegetarian

Read the following lines from the song ‘Balleilakka’:

ammiyil arachu aakkivacha naattu kozhi patta kelappum
aadu maadu mela ULLa Paasam
veettu ration card-il serkka solli kaetkum

What’s the need to have such contradicting lines? How can the same person who kills and eats chicken (For God’s sake, it’s a baby!), love goats and cows when in all probability he might be eating those as well?!

8 Things about me

Sivaraman had tagged me long back. The tag is I have to list out 8 things about me.

1. I am a semi-introvert.
2. I have this weird habit of checking, re-checking, re-re-checking whether I have taken all the necessary things when I leave for an exam or some other important work!
3. Whenever I get bored/confused/sad, I write down my feelings on a paper. I have found that putting the thoughts into words has a positive effect on me.
4. I believe in the saying, ‘Life is too sweet to be spent worrying’ and try my best to enjoy all the little things in life.
5. I love ice creams 😀
6. I hate crowds! I prefer a peaceful life 😛
7. I am punctual in everything I do. I have always been the first one to arrive be it meeting a group of friends or meeting some other deadline 😉
8. Finally, I have this policy of not tagging anyone 😉

How ‘brave’ can people get!

I had gone on a one-day trip to Tirunelveli yesterday with my family. After we got down at the Tirunelveli station, we saw that none of them used the staircase at the station. Since we were new to the place, we decided to follow the crowd to reach entrance/exit of the station. Everybody were crossing the railway tracks to reach the other side of the platform. The point to be noted here is they were crossing the very same railway tracks in which the train we had travelled by was waiting to get started soon and they were crossing right in front of the train.
As we were about to cross the track, the train driver honked the horn of the train! That’s when everyone started rushing to cross the tracks!! A local boy standing behind me said, ‘Akka cross paNNidlaam. Cross paNNunga!’ This, after the horns screamed! I was shocked to see some people crossing the tracks even after the train started moving! They were hardly 25 feet in front of the train! Is waiting for a max of 5 more minutes going to cost them anything? I watched the crowd crossing the tracks amazed and crossed only after the train left the station.

Asleep in the blazing sun

Imagine someone sleeping while travelling by bus at around 4-4:30 in the evening in spite of the terrible Madras summer! That too not just sleeps but is in a deep sleep so much so that the person wakes up all of a sudden to find that it’s just a few seconds for the stop to come! And, imagine this happening everyday!! You might have already guessed by now. I am that person! I don’t really know from where I got the ability to sleep in this bad veyil! Ellaarum enna praise paNNunga 😛 Btw, I guess the day when I am going to miss my stop isn’t far away!

Some people!

It’s high time some people learnt some things in life:
• When you achieve something great in a field, it should not be you but others who have to say what you have done/ doing is great.
• Even when others acknowledge your work, if you go on talking to others praising yourself, it will make others lose the respect they have for you.
• To put it in a nutshell, tharperumai adichukka koodaadhu!
• Even when quite a few are encouraging you and praising your work and it is only a matter of time before more of them join in encouraging you, if you talk as though others are committing a big mistake by not supporting you, then, it is the biggest mistake that you have made. Even those who wanted to encourage you to accomplish greater milestones will forget that idea!

Disclaimer: It’s not related to my work in any way! 🙂

Why?

Why is it that in shops like Saravana Stores, they continuously keep showing their own ads on TV screens kept everywhere in the shop? Haven’t we all come for shopping there only after seeing their ads(?) on TV? What’s the logic behind this? It only causes irritation to the shoppers to keep listening to the blaring sound of the ad!

Deadlock

Got this as a forward:

Khushi milti hai nayi nayi cheezein karne se,
Lekhin experience milta hai same cheez baar baar karne se!
Paisa milta hai experience se
Aur paisa chahiye khushi ke liye!
It’s a deadlock!

Good one, isn’t it? 🙂

Caught in the jam

After having suffered caught in the traffic jam on Old Mahabalipuram yesterday afternoon, I thought about what could have been done by all the IT companies and the colleges on the road to avoid the jam.
Considering the fact that there was a traffic jam till only before Tidel Park, the reason for the jam was obviously, all the companies’ buses starting at almost the same time. If all the companies that have large number of buses and the colleges had co-ordinated amongst themselves and each one had started their buses after an interval of say, some 15 minutes, after another companies’ buses started, I don’t think the traffic jam on the road would have happened and everyone wouldn’t have had to suffer because of it and the Chennai heat.
What do you people say?
Forgot to add the most important point here: The buses of the company closest to Tidel Park should have started first followed by the others with the buses of the one that is farthest starting last. Couldn’t all this have been arranged in a few phone calls itself?
